What are my options other than hormone replacement therapy?
The effectiveness of alternative treatment in treating menopausal
symptoms is limited and inconclusive. However, it is an option when
hormone replacement therapy is not suitable or not acceptable by women.
When does MHT might not be suitable to me?
- Established coronary heart disease
- Active liver disease
- Personal history of breast, ovary or womb cancer
- Systemic lupus erythematosus
- Undiagnosed abnormal vaginal bleeding
- Personal or family history of blood clotting disorders
Sometimes it takes 2 to 4 weeks for you to notice the effect of the treatment. Speak to
your doctor if your symptoms do not improve or you have problems with side effects.
